How WP Hockey Predictor works
Explore your own matchup. Follow the official picks. Check the record.
What is WP Hockey Predictor?
WP Hockey Predictor is an NHL analysis service available on the web and as WP Hockey Predictor: Picks for iPhone and iPad. It offers a customizable matchup calculator, daily Picks, a Daily Parlay, primary and Dark Horse goalscorer selections, articles, and recorded results. It does not accept wagers.
Use the website in your browser, or download the iPhone and iPad app. Sign in with the same account to use your eligible access across both.
| Feature | What it is for | What is recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Calculator | Your chosen teams, goalies and injury scenario | Not part of the official Picks win rate |
| Picks | The published game-by-game selections | Locked selections are retained for grading |
| Parlay | A separate full-day report | All legs freeze together; separate from the main Picks record |
How can I customize an NHL prediction?
Select the away and home teams and starting goalies. Review key injuries, exclude or restore listed players, and use the available player selector to adjust your scenario. Key injuries are included by default; the switch lets you turn that adjustment off for your manual prediction. Your scenario does not change the official Picks or their grading record.
WP uses a proprietary statistical model to assess a matchup. The calculator lets you explore different goalie and injury assumptions. Information can change before puck drop, and incomplete reports remain a source of uncertainty. A confidence tier is not a guarantee or an exact probability.
For example, you can compare a scenario with a key player absent against one with that player restored. A scenario is your assumption, not confirmation that the player will play. Recheck the available goalie and injury reports before relying on an earlier prediction.

The app is free to download. Signed-in users have a daily free calculator allowance, shown in the calculator; the public track record and past-picks archives can be reviewed before purchasing. Day Pass and Monthly Pass provide unlimited calculator access. Picks passes add the daily Picks and Parlay features. Check the package comparison and checkout for current inclusions, prices and renewal terms.
Current matchup analysis and other premium content require the appropriate access. A free app download does not unlock every paid feature. Website reference prices are in Canadian dollars; App Store prices and terms depend on the storefront.
When do Picks and Parlay lock for grading?
Picks target a final grading lock 5 minutes before each scheduled game. The full-day Parlay targets one lock 15 minutes before the first scheduled game, after which all legs remain frozen. Posted at is the original publication time; Locked for grading is the actual saved lock time. Schedule changes, missing information or processing delays can delay or prevent a lock. Older archives retain their original timing policy.
A calculator run after the official selection was saved may use a different scenario or later information. It does not replace the archived selection. See the posting and grading-lock policy for the applicable rules.
How can I verify the recorded win rate?
Use the Track Record page for separate regular-season and playoff results, the number of wins and losses, and coverage limitations. The public Picks archive supports the automated period. Historical Action Network entries were reconciled separately; its all-time account total is not the reconciled season total. Custom calculator runs, Parlay outcomes and goalscorer results are not included in the main Picks win rate.
2025–26 NHL regular-season recorded picks: 452–318 (58.7%) across 770 picks. 2026 NHL playoff recorded picks: 60–22 (73.2%) across 82 picks.
Recorded picks only. Includes reconciled Action Network history from November 14, 2025 through February 5, 2026 and automated records from March 4 onward. Identical selections count once. The January 31 Toronto–Vancouver matchup is excluded pending confirmation of the original primary pick. Playoff figures cover graded published picks in the automated archive, April 18–June 14, 2026. These are separate regular-season and playoff records, not a claim that every NHL game or every prediction issued that season is covered. Win rate is wins divided by wins plus losses; pushes, voids and ungraded picks are excluded. This is the main Picks record, not Parlay success, goalscorer accuracy or ROI.
The original historical entries are on Action Network; its all-time account total is not the reconciled season total. The public Picks archive supports the automated period. The analytics dashboard combines historical backtests with later live records and is not the official published-pick record. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Does a high win rate mean a profit?
Win rate is wins divided by wins plus losses; pushes, voids and ungraded picks are excluded. It does not measure profit. Returns also depend on the odds and stake for each selection. A high win rate can still lose money, and past results do not guarantee future performance.
Read the market on each card: a moneyline selection, puck line, total and anytime goalscorer pick have different winning conditions. Do not treat a successful player selection as a win for the main game pick, or use individual Parlay legs as the success rate for the combined Parlay.
Read articles in their original context
Daily articles cover hockey storylines and matchup context. The game date matters: a preview found through search can refer to a game that has already finished. Check the current article list and Picks for the available current coverage.
